SHEFFIELD ARCHITECTURE
When you arrive into Sheffield by train you cannot help but see the brutalist architecture of Park Hill. Designed by two young architects Ivor Smith and Jack Lynn for Sheffield City Council it was one the most ambitious housing projects of its era; now it stands as a success story of redevelopment. My plan in Sheffield was to photograph this great building and see if there were other contemporary buildings to document. I photographed amazing contemporary housing, Victorian factories, and innovative university buildings… taken in June 2023
My first glimpse of Park Hill. I walked from the University/Train Station tram stop up the hill to catch a glimpse of this iconic building.
