London Architecture
“A building always has an impact.”
Jacques Herzog
When I seriously started taking photographs the subject was always architecture - contemporary architecture. These were the heady days of the amazing tube stations of the then new Jubilee line, Herzog and De Meuron and Libeskind were building in London and the Serpentine Gallery had an exemplar work of architecture every summer (see separate section). The buildings ignited my imagination and made me hanker after a career that never was. Now I still seek out new buildings in London and beyond.

Blind Light (Anthony Gormley) at Hayward Gallery by Higgs and Hill, 1968. An example of brutalist architecture that has its moments. There is is a staircase that has the imprint of the shuttering that I love.

Hothouse in Hackney by Ash Sakula Architects. 2003? Original design in a boomarang shape to fit a difficult, odd shaped piece of land.. Ash Sakula Architects come to their designs with ingenious solutions to difficult problems. Love it.
